La beatificación de la científica madrileña Guadalupe Ortiz de Landázuri, que tendrá lugar en Madrid el 18 de mayo de 2019, será digital y solidaria. La dimensión solidaria se plasmará dedicando los donativos de la beatificación al Proyecto de la ONG Harambee denominado “Becas Guadalupe” para científicas africanas.
El proyecto pretende ayudar y dar visibilidad a las mujeres científicas que viven en África para que puedan colaborar eficazmente en el desarrollo de sus países. Se convocará un total de 100 becas de movilidad para investigadoras africanas durante un periodo de 10 años, con la convocatoria de 10 becas anuales, de las que se podrán beneficiar 10 científicas africanas.
Este programa tiene como objetivo promover el liderazgo de mujeres residentes en África en la investigación científica. Con la intención de fomentar e impulsar la capacidad de los centros de investigación de sus países, crear nuevos equipos y nuevos campos de investigación que puedan abordar los grandes desafíos a los que se enfrenta su continente. Sobre todo en las dos grandes áreas que tienen mayor impacto en las personas: la Vida y la Tierra. Dentro del área de la Vida se incluiría la investigación en Ciencias y fundamentalmente Ciencias de la Salud y en el área Tierra, cuestiones que abarcan todo la investigación aplicada al Desarrollo Sostenible (Recursos: agua, energía; cambio climático; gestión de residuos; agricultura sostenible; etc.).
La carrera científica de una persona joven es dura y requiere talento, entusiasmo, mucha dedicación y alguna oportunidad. La oportunidad la da el poder hacer una estancia en algún centro donde haya equipos consolidados, que puedan potenciar las capacidades de la investigadora. Por ello es recomendable salir del propio centro de trabajo en África y ponerse en contacto con otros equipos que trabajen en temas similares, y así completar la formación. Las jóvenes científicas africanas son las que cuentan con menos oportunidades en este sentido.
El Programa Becas Guadalupe de Harambee financiará la movilidad de investigadoras a través de estancias cortas (de 1 a 9 meses) en otros centros de investigación, donde puedan completar su formación.
El proyecto cuenta con un comité científico, formado por prestigiosas investigadoras españolas, que seleccionará a las candidatas más idóneas para recibir la beca y un comité de gestión que seleccionará los equipos investigadores españoles en los que se integrarán las becarias.
Las bases generales del Programa Becas Guadalupe se publicarán en la página web de Harambee en cada convocatoria. Ya son muchos los equipos investigadores españoles que están dispuestos a acoger a jóvenes investigadoras africanas.
Aunque los donativos recaudados durante la beatificación de Guadalupe Ortiz de Landázuri se dedicarán a este proyecto, resultarán insuficientes. Por lo que Harambee anima a realizar donativos en https://www.harambee.es/colabora/modos-de-donacion/ indicando en el asunto “Becas Guadalupe”.

The beatification of the scientist Guadalupe Ortiz de Landázuri, which will take place in Madrid on May 18, 2019, will be digital and solidary. The solidarity dimension will be expressed by dedicating the beatification donations to the Harambee NGO Project called «Guadalupe Scholarships» for African women scientists.
The project aims to help and give visibility to women scientists living in Africa so that they can collaborate effectively in the development of their countries. A total of 100 mobility scholarships for African researchers will be convened for a period of 10 years, with the convocation of 10 annual scholarships, from which 10 African scientists can benefit.
This program aims to promote the leadership of women living in Africa in scientific research. With the intention of encouraging and boosting the capacity of the research centers in their countries, creating new teams and new fields of research that can address the great challenges of their continent. Especially in the two large areas that have the greatest impact on people: Life and Earth. Within the area of Life would include research in Sciences and fundamentally Health Sciences and in the Earth area, issues that cover all applied research to Sustainable Development (Resources: water, energy, climate change, waste management, sustainable agriculture ; etc.).
The scientific career of a young person is hard and requires talent, enthusiasm, a lot of dedication and some opportunity. The opportunity is given by being able to make their research in a center with consolidated teams, which can enhance the capabilities of the researcher. Therefore it is advisable to leave the work center in Africa and get in touch with other teams that work on similar topics, and thus complete the training. Young African scientists are the ones with fewer opportunities in this regard.
The Guadalupe Scholarship Program of Harambee will finance the mobility of researchers through short stays (from 1 to 9 months) in other research centers, where they can complete their training.
The project has a scientific committee, formed by prestigious Spanish researchers, that will select the most suitable candidates to receive the scholarship and a management committee that will select the Spanish research teams in which the scholars will be integrated.
The general bases of the Guadalupe Scholarship Program will be published on the Harambee website in each edition. There are already many Spanish research teams that are willing to welcome young African researchers.
Although the donations collected during the beatification of Guadalupe Ortiz de Landázuri will be dedicated to this project, they will be insufficient.
